International Practice Education Forum PDF Print E-mail

The International Practice Education Forum (IntPE) was developed in 2008 and focuses on issues and possible areas for collaboration and knowledge exchange surrounding international practice experiences.  IntPE’s top priorities are to identify all resources related to International Placement that are available from as many sources and bodies as possible and to strengthen current and emerging networks.

An IntPE facilitator is currently undergoing a process of interviews with five key organizations in the province that deal with International Practice Education and are interested in collaborating on global international health.  From these interviews, a report and a proposal will be developed on how to address the information that arises.  The interviews are based on leveraging and awareness around BC’s involvement in global international health initiatives.

Draft - Practice Guideline March 17, 2007
Practice education is a collaborative partnership between the Receiving and Placing Agencies that considers the needs of patients, students and staff. Support for practice education is essential in order to address current and future health human resource needs.
Well-defined processes must be in place for responding to student placement requests in order to provide consistency, fairness, and equity for all students.

Skills Connect – Health supports internationally educated healthcare professionals (IEHPs) to obtain health care occupations by assisting them to assess their qualifications, to understand BC’s health care sector, and to identify and fund required skills upgrading. Since its inception in September 2007, the program has assisted hundreds of IEHPs.  Skills Connect – Health is made possible through funding from the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development and the Ministry of Health Services.
